Prelim
Evaluation
The planning I did was write out a draft of
a shot-list. This was useful because it allowed us too plan the video scene by
scene and have a look at different ideas of different camera angles and shot
types too use. We tried too stick too the shot-list as much as possible as we
used it as a baseline for our ideas, however we did changes some shots, for
example we changed the final shot from Tobias leaving the room and slamming the
door shut with a close up on the handle, too a low angle shot of Tobias
storming out of the class. This was an effective use of planning as we tried
the shot of the door handle but we felt it didn’t have the same effect as the
storming out shot as it was a more interesting type of angle and made the scene
more fluent from the previous shot.
The camera skills I have developed I feel
has been being able too use effective camera angles for example worms eye,
tracking. As before whenever I filmed things it would be a standard shot
nothing creative at all so this preliminary task has mainly improved my
creativity with shots and made my ideas more colourful. I feel I need to
improve upon my technical knowledge of how too work cameras too make the shots
crisper and nicer looking as the ones I tried too take weren’t as nice looking
or as crisp as some of the other shots so that is where I feel I need
improvement.
Firstly I have had some editing experience
before with iMovie. I have made several movies on the programme so knew what it
is like to edit film. I feel as though I have improved my editing skills
further as this is the first time I have been able too edit parts of clips that
I want too keep and get rid of. I feel quite confident with adding effects and
transitions and putting clips together too make a film, however some of the commands
and more technical things I can’t really understand and don’t know how to do
them. However I can do the basics well and with ease and I can also edit the
speed at which a clip is played and edit the tilt and gradient etc. of a shot.
In conclusion I feel that the preliminary
task with my group was a success and I really enjoyed working with them. If it
weren’t for the fact I know people in the group who live in the same area as I do
I would probably work with them again. I feel that the task and the group
helped too improve my understanding of how too make and edit film and gave me a
real insight into how making films for media studies works. I feel working in a
team of strangers’ benefited me a lot and helped my confidence amongst the
class. I feel a lot more confident with editing now also and I feel that the prelim
task for our group was a success.

A well organised evaluation and reflecting your enthusiasm for the task. Overall your evaluation is too generalised and becomes waffle because you do not reference any examples from your shoot and edit.
ReplyDeleteTarget: When evaluating your work you need to illustrate your points by referencing examples.
You need to strengthen this by adding another post addressing the
following: (Particularly numbers 3 & 4 )
1) The locations you chose and why these were important to the action in your film.
2) How your group achieved the 180 degree rule.
3) More examples of specific camera shots and angles and why you used them.
4) What impact have specific editing effects you have used had on the quality of your film and the potential appeal of your film.
5) What was realistic about the conversation and the dramatic moment?
